best album packaging?
For me, Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper is my all time favourite vinyl album in terms of packaging. Great snakeskin colour cover, with billion dollar note and cut out cards. I still have that in my collection as well as the CD reissue which is alright but ..those were the days?
Whats your fave vinyl album packaging?
BQ – Who else misses the good old vinyl days when album covers and packaging just added that extra touch to the great music….the 70s ruled ddnt they?
sugaree I’m surprised you didn’t mention The Grateful Dead – Dead In A Deck with playing cards ..oops, that’s on CD (my copy of it still sealed). The old difference between LP covers and packaging and CD packaging in many cases is just size. I’ve got a lot of cool covers both LP and CD. Favorite vinyl is Zoviet France – Gris (1985) 10″, the sleeve is constructed from a painted section of asphalt roofing material. CD covers and sets can be just as cool. Two examples, Frank Zappa – You Can’t Do That On Stage Any More 6-CD set in it’s own purple wooden box (promo)
